Video games with Very Known Sports

Hockey
Honestly I don't know a whole lot about recent hockey games because I'm not a big hockey fan but I think hockey fans are pretty happy with the current games. I did love Ice Hockey on the NES and EA's NHL series on the Genesis.

Skating
Like hockey I'm not a big skating fan so I haven't played many skating games. But judging just by how incredibly popular the Tony Hawk series is I'm guessing that skating fans are pretty happy with those games.
Soccer
Soccer is one of the few sports where I enjoy playing the game (or in real life) a whole lot more than watching it. Many people find soccer "boring" because of the low scoring but honestly it's pretty fun as a video game because in a lot of other sports games it is way too easy to score.

Boxing
For a while boxing games were on the mend but when you have Mike Tyson's Punch-Out as one of your sports' early games and the current Fight Night series are your most recent games then a lull in the middle is not surprising because of how hard it is to live up to those games.

3. Baseball
If this list only took NES games into account then baseball would be number one with gems like R.B.I. Baseball, Baseball Stars, BaseWars and many others. Unfortunately there has only been one or two other great baseball games since then.

Football
Football has certainly been very consistent video play games sport. There are great early games like Tecmo Bowl and the Madden Series on Genesis and SNES. Now the NCAA Football series is really great. Madden and NCAA year in and year out two of the top video games.

Pro Wrestling
I guess it all depends on whether you like wrestling or not but I do and it clearly deserves the top spot. Early games like Pro Wrestling on the NES had some cool characters like Starman. Then the first WWF game hits and you're amazed you can be your favorite wrestlers. Over the years they've added steel cages, ladder matches, battle royals, blood, hundreds of wrestling move to choose from, creating your own wrestler, a storyline mode, fighting games like Super Fire Pro Wrestling even have barbed wire rings. The current Smackdown series is getting kind of stale but overall pro wrestling has had by far the most great games.
