The Assassin's Creed series is one of those free games that tries something new with something that exists. This is a great sandbox game with a great story that is able to accomplish all this without drastically changing or innovating.
I'm kind of a conspiracy junky myself. I like good history conspiracy stories so my saying the story is great might be a touch biased. Even so it is a decent story that sucks you in when it's moving forward. Of course it's not always moving forward, but even when the story is moving there is plenty to do in this game. Brotherhood really doesn't change much from AC2, but the climbing and freerunning seem a little more fluid and easy to get right. There are still the occasions when Ezio shows his prowess by randomly grabbing a ledge two feet off the ground, but that's normally the players fault and is only an inspiration to maybe work harder on your parkour skills. Which leads me to talk about the many new additions in the game.
First is the Virtual Training which was a fantastic idea. I personally have found that it has actually made me a little better at the game. It's fun to get the medals, but actually helping is something superb. The ability to leave the Animus is also a great idea. I always wanted to see more of the Desmond story in AC2, but realize maybe it wasn't very prudent. However, in Brotherhood the Desmond story is actually something that is somewhat dynamic and having the setting be at the Villa is just a nice touch.
Now for the real deal. I will go on record saying that this multiplayer is one of the greatest that I have ever seen. I still like a good fragfest once in a while, but getting blown to pieces on Halo and COD just gets old after a while especially when the perks and customizations are weak. AC:B took the multiplayer norm and threw it out the window and said "Slow the hell down and let's actually think while we're playing." The fact that the way you win in taking your time and being patient might frustrate some, but I find it brilliant. When I only get 4 kills and beat a person with 20 kills is amazing. This is a tense, edge-of-your-seat, multiplayer experience. This isn't a passive game and you really have to try and pay attention. The learning curve is gentle and doesn't just let you get annihilated when you first start. With patience and a great strategy, you'll win without even trying.
The gameplay overall is basically the same as AC2, but the small additions like being able to jump off a huge tower directly to your horse and throwing heavy weapons is something that still satiates the thirst for something new. The new gadgets also help throw a twist in some of the strategies that you attempt by giving you the ability to poison from a distance and parachute from building to building. The way that you can build and renovate Rome is fun, but lacks some things. Getting to the point where you're getting 50,000 florins every time you're withdrawing from the bank is great and the different items that some shops have is fun. However, renovating Rome falls short. I haven't finished the game yet, but when I buy a shop and it makes itself look nice, I expected to buy the Colosseum and see it at least clean itself up. It's nice to see a decrease in the guard presence as you start rebuilding Rome, but I wanted to truly REBUILD Rome. It's still fun, but I do have a gripe with that.
I won't go into much more, but I'll finish by saying that this game is a must buy for the people who want a sandbox game that doesn't include health increases by banging a hooker and hunting wild animals in the wilderness. The story delivers and I can't wait to see how the whole thing comes together, and I love building Rome while planning out my assassinations and building up my assassin's guild. I wish they would have added maybe a few more gameplay additions and maybe does some design upgrades, but it still is a great experience. I'm over 60 and still compete in senior MMA competitions. I've fought pro and semi pro for over 40 years. Without reservations, this is one of the best training sims anywhere if you love fighting sports. I have read dozens of very negative reviews about this fighting games, and with a little research, have figured out the four biggest problems:
1. You MUST calibrate in game, and be sure that your camera is exactly where you need it for both head and body shots.
2. You have to know how to throw a punch! If you put too much shoulder throw into your punches like an amateur, astonishingly, this game realizes it! Punching with real life, last second power bursts take a lot of energy, but are just as effective as they are in a real fignt, and you'll get plenty of wins. Punch THROUGH the face or body of your opponent, not TO or AT it, and you'll find an amazing difference. If you're fighting me online, please ignore this advice. Follow through really helps with registered power!
3. I'm convinced this game was designed for near daylight. Incandescent, and especially those energy saving little twisted neon things don't cut it for head motion. Open the drapes, and you'll find head tracking works great. Without this feature, the game loses a lot of its realism.
4. The online experience isn't very well developed at this time, but hopefully will be after the holidays. One warning-- even if you know you can beat a lot of online opponents with your skill, you MUST realize that it is only half your skill that matters online-- the other half is character experience and features, which have to be earned, won and bought in home practice. Don't give up by going online too soon and then not understanding why lesser fighters are kicking your butt-- they have more advanced fighter qualities. I'm sure cheats will surface in a few months, but for now, stick to building your character before you venture online. That said, the online side of this is incredibly fun. I'm guessing this will be hard to find once folks find out about that.
Please realize this is NOT like a character gaming experience, although the career engine and other features are very robust. To be very honest, this is basically a workout game that, with competition, makes you forget the cardio side long enough to really sweat! If you think of it in the same vein as aerobics, you'll love it, and not expect a lot of deep story lines and intrigue. Bosses are great fun-- a throwback to my era of tough endings! Cheat Hint: to beat bosses, assume they each have a "weakness."
Warning to parents with younger kids: my grandkids can't punch hard enough or correctly enough to use this, and unless they are tall, the camera angle of the MOVE in general may be too high and steep to pick up the full range of their motion. Also, kids love to move around, and if you do the rope a dope shuffle with this game, it will stop tracking your hits. Your feet have to stay glued to the floor with this one, so don't waste your money if it is for too young kids (under 5 or 6, depending on height)! Remember also, there are numerous "special" movements of the move controllers that have to be learned, like jumping, ducking, bobbing and weaving, etc. The balance of light in the room has to be right, or one of the controllers or head tracking will be disabled, which makes it a much tougher fight, because the system doesn't "see" you move your head, and you have to duck with buttons and controller flicks, dropping your guard.
Remember also, when you first get a controller, you need to "sync" it to the console by plugging it into the USB and pressing the playstation (on) button. Holding the trigger down and swiping up, down, right and left enables menus, otherwise you'll be switching back and forth between wireless and move controllers. Also, don't forget that you need the little bluetooth broadcast chip in the usb to pick up the wireless signals, from the move controllers, or the nav controller. If the screen says to use the (i) button for input, and you notice there is no (i) button on the move controller, what they mean is to hold the trigger down and swish continually to the right or left to increase or decrease the parameter (weight, difficulty level, age, etc.). Other than very young kids who won't get the subtleties of jab and duck, five stars, one of the most fun and realistic workouts on any of the big 3 (ps3, wii and Kinetic). play games.

While this ability is active, whenever the rogue is struck by a melee or ranged attack, he or she will gain a stacking buff called Combat Insight that results in a 10% reduction in damage taken. Combat Insight will stack up to 5 times and the timer will be refreshed whenever a new stack is applied. Our goal is to make rogues better equipped to go toe-to-toe with other melee classes when Evasion or stuns are not in play. This ability lasts 6 seconds and has a 2-minute cooldown.
Smoke Bomb (level 85): The rogue drops a Smoke Bomb, creating a cloud that interferes with enemy targeting. Enemies who are outside the cloud will find themselves unable to target units inside the cloud with single-target abilities. Enemies can move inside the cloud to attack, or they can use area-of-effect (AoE) abilities at any time to attack opponents in a cloud. In PvP, this will open up new dimensions of tactical positional gameplay, as the ability offers a variety of offensive and defensive uses. In PvE, Smoke Cloud can serve to shield your group from hostile ranged attacks, while also drawing enemies closer without the need to rely on conventional line-of-sight obstructions. Smoke Cloud lasts 10 seconds and has a 3-minute cooldown.
Changes to Abilities and Mechanics
We're also planning to make changes to some of the other abilities and mechanics you're already familiar with. This list and the summary of talent changes below it are by no means comprehensive, but they should give you a good sense of what we want for each spec.
* In PvP, we want to reduce the rogue's dependency on binary cooldowns and "stun-locks," and give them more passive survivability in return. One major change is that we'll put Cheap Shot on the same diminishing return as other stuns. The increase to Armor and Stamina on cloth, leather, and mail gear will help with this goal as well. * In PvE, even accounting for active modifiers like Slice and Dice and Envenom, a very large portion of the rogue's damage is attributable to passive sources of damage. Yes, they are using abilities for the entire duration of a fight, but we want to reduce the percentage of rogue damage that comes from auto-attacks and poisons. More of their damage will be coming from active abilities and special attacks. * We would like to improve the rogue leveling experience. Positional attacks and DoT-ramping mechanics will be de-emphasized at low levels and then re-introduced at higher levels for group gameplay. We are also providing rogues with a new low-level ability, Recuperate, to convert combo points into a small heal-over-time (HoT). * To complement the change to combo points, non-damage abilities such as Recuperate and Slice and Dice will no longer have target requirements and can be used with any of the rogue's existing combo points, including combo points remaining on recently killed targets. This will not affect damage abilities, which will still require combo points to be present on the specific target you want to damage. To coincide with this, the UI will be updated so that rogues know how many combo points they have active. * Ambush will now work with all weapons, but will have a reduced coefficient when not using a dagger. When opening from Stealth, all rogues will be able to choose from burst damage, DoT abilities, or a stun. * As we've done recently with some of the Subtlety abilities, we want to make sure more rogue abilities aren't overly penalized by weapon choice. With a few exceptions (like Backstab), you should be able to use a dagger, axe, mace, sword, or fist weapon without being penalized for most attacks. * Deadly Throw and Fan of Knives will now use the weapon in the ranged slot. In addition, we hope to allow rogues to apply poisons to their throwing weapons. * We are very happy with Tricks of the Trade as a general mechanic and as a way to give rogues more group utility, but we don't want it to account for as much threat transfer as it does now.
New Talents and Talent Changes
In Cataclysm, the overall feel of each of the rogue's talent trees will change, as we would like each tree to have a clearly defined niche and purpose. The talent details below are meant to give you an idea of what we're going for.
* Assassination free games will be more about daggers, poisons, and burst damage. * Combat will be all about swords, maces, fist weapons, axes, and being engaged toe-to-toe with your enemies. A Combat rogue will be able to survive longer without needing to rely on Stealth and evasion mechanics. * The Subtlety tree will primarily be based around utilizing Stealth, openers, finishers, and survivability. It'll be about daggers, too, but less so than Assassination. * In general, Subtlety rogues needs to do more damage than they do today, and the other trees need to have more tools. * Weapon-specialization talents (for all classes, not just rogues) are going away. We do not want you to have to respec when you get a different weapon. Interesting talents, such as Hack and Slash, will work with all weapons. Boring talents, such as Mace Specialization and Close Quarters Combat, will be going away. * The Assassination and Combat talent trees currently have a lot of passive bonuses. We plan to dial back the amount of Critical Strike Rating provided by these trees so that rogues still want it on their gear.

A couple of things i found to be missing were the options to change the controls, there were no interchangeable buttons, and barely any motion controls. Another poor thing about the game is the trophy buck i was hunting was attacked and killed by a grizzly bear, making it impossible to complete the mission. Now this woul have not been so bad had i just started the mission, but no i was anout 45 minutes into it. So they have the AI set a little too good for the animals to interact in that way.
As for replay value this game has none. Once you beat the main storyline you can compete in offline tournaments to beat already set highscores, or play two player. All two player is, is you and your friend take turns at a shooting range trying to hit targets. The fun lasts one maybe two rounds, other than that there is not really anything else to do.
Weapons
When you first begin this game in the year of 1933, you have four basic weapons a 30-06 rifle, a 12-gauge shotgun, a 44-revolver handgun, and a long bow. Now these aren't that great of weapons but they are the best of their time. As you progress through the game the weapons will go through changes and updates, according with the time of course, all of wich will affect your weapon's basic statistics. Such as range, ammo capacity and weight.
The Edge: My personnal favorite weapon is the longbow, i prefer hunting with this because it's more silent than any of the other weapons, but a couple of things that drag it down is you have to reload after every shot, and does not carry the same amout of "firepower" as the other weapons. For me silence is more deadly then power. However one cool feature about the play games is the fact you can change wepons on the fly. So if you shoot your bow and alert the animals, say a grizzly bear, and it starts to charge you then you can pull out your rifle and shoot it with more accuracy.
